Picky Parents Memory Box

The memory box is meant to store artifacts related to a child’s life, things that are often tucked away in drawers, and sometimes we don’t even know what to do with them or how to store them.

The box is intended to be a modern-day reliquary, a storage space for treasures such as lost baby teeth, first cut hair, children’s drawings, letters, or photos, documenting the most important moments in a child’s life.

The box was created with the intention of passing it on to a child as a gift at a special moment, like their 18th birthday or wedding, as a unique imprint of their life. Alternatively, the parents may keep it and be able to revisit these treasures.

The box was made for the project Krásná práce (Beautiful Work), which aims to bring forgotten traditional crafts back into everyday life. Initiated by Michaela Karásek Čejková (Picky Parents), who also took the wonderful photos.

The design was created by designer Klára Šumová, illustrator Barbora Idesová (design of the face and the base for the wood carving), woodcarver Klára Paclíková, and carpenter Štěpán Holoubek.
